The Long Island, with eight examples, was the only railroad to order the Fairbanks-Morse CPA-20-5, the 2000-horsepower version of the C-Line passenger cab unit. Delivered in 1950, they were not entirely successful and were supplanted later in the decade by ALCo units. In what is probably a railroad publicity photo from the Gary Thompson collection, we see unit 2001 with its eastbound train approaching milepost 31, near Syosset, on the Port Jefferson branch.
