In 1949, Denver & Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 No. 268 was relettered for the imaginary "Cripple Creek & Tin Cup Railroad" and used as power on the narrow-gauge railroad that carried visitors through the fair grounds. The engine, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1882, was a member of the D&RGW's class C-16. Don's Rail Photos provides several views of this locomotive in service. It is preserved today in Gunnison, Colorado.
