The Railway Express Agency handled express shipments of all kinds, but beginning in the 1940s it concentrated on express refrigerator service. At the 1948 fair the agency displayed one of its new cars designed for that business. The agency was owned by a large group of railroads and was renamed REA Express in the early 1960s. As the express business had mostly transitioned to motor carriers, REA Express (under different ownership) terminated operations in a 1975 bankruptcy.
