Grand Trunk Western 2-8-2 No. 3747 rests between Detroit suburban passenger duties at the Milwaukee Junction terminal on August 12, 1958. She belonged to class S-3-b, delivered by the American Locomotive Company in 1923. The S-3 class had 63-inch drivers and 26x30-inch cylinders, and carried 200 p.s.i. of boiler pressure per square inch. They produced 54,724 pounds of tractive force, and the S-3-b and S-3-c classes weighed 306,500 pounds. Reportedly, two years earlier No. 3747 had been renumbered to 4082, but as is evident in this photo by David Leonard the renumbering had not been applied; she was scrapped in 1961.
