Grand Trunk Western 2-8-0 No. 2667 has halted for my camera at Middleton, Michigan, in the summer of 1953. This Consolidation belonged to class N-4-d, a group that entered service in or before 1911 for the Grand Trunk Railway with this member of the class being numbered 784. The dimensions of this class are given on the page for No. 2680. These locomotives were built by the Brooks Works of the American Locomotive Company as cross-compounds, with steam from the high-pressure cylinder on the fireman's side being reused in the low-pressure cylinder on the engineer's side. They were converted to a "simple" locomotive (both cylinders using fresh steam) around 1926, and were still in regular service in the 1950s holding down local and branch line assignments. No. 2667 was scrapped in 1955.
