In 1939 three more ALCo "Mikes" joined the small Green Bay & Western fleet of class D-47. Their specifications were the same as for the earlier class (see No. 401 previous) except that their steam-producing capacity was augmented, with 2937 square feet of evaporative heating surface and 1184 square feet of superheating surface. They also weighed slightly less at 280,000 pounds. All the GB&W Mikados were withdrawn from service early in 1950, replaced by diesels from the same builder. This image of No. 404 at Green Bay was saved from a long-discontinued Internet site; it also appears in the Railfan.net ABPR Archive, uploaded by Bud Laws. Photographer and date are not specified.
