The four 2-8-2s of the D&TSL's class 25 came from Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1928 as a further refinement on its existing stable of modified USRA light Mikados but with many similar dimensions, including cylinder size, boiler pressure, and grate area (see the commentary on No. 22 previous). However, their driver diameter, at 64 inches, was slightly larger resulting in a lower tractive effort of 53,869 pounds, and they weighed more at 323,010 pounds. They had an evaporative heating surface of 3727 square feet, and a superheating surface of 854 square feet. No. 25, first of the class, appears here at Detroit in a photo acquired via eBay.
