The American Locomotive Company delivered fifteen class K-62 dual-service 4-8-4s to the Delaware & Hudson in 1943. They had 24½x32-inch cylinders, 75-inch drivers, and a boiler pressure of 285 p.s.i. Exerting a tractive effort of 62,040 pounds, they weighed 470,000 pounds. Their evaporative heating surface totaled 4477 square feet and their superheating surface 1473 square feet, and they had a grate area of 96 square feet. No. 308 of the class was selected for the ALCo builder's photo.
