Tom Rock of Rock on Trains contributed this image of Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 No. 2220 from the collection of Ed Emery of Toronto. The photo was taken at Tilbury, Ontario sometime in the 1950s. The vestibule cab, a common feature of CPR and CNR power, afforded the enginemen some protection from the elements during the severe Canadian winter. Ray Verdone's CPR Steam Locomotives Database indicates that this engine, a 1911 product of Montreal Locomotive Works, was originally numbered 1020 in class G1d; after cylinder enlargement in 1928 she was reclassified to G1s, and was retired in 1958. For the dimensions of the G1 class, see the commentary on No. 2202.
