Robert Leffingwell snapped this transparency of B&O class T-3b 4-8-2 No. 725 (formerly 5584) at Barr Yard in Chicago on April 7, 1957. No. 725 and her sisters in the T-3 class developed a tractive effort of 65,100 pounds and weighed 375,000 pounds without tender. They had 70-inch drivers, 27x32-inch cylinders, and 230 p.s.i. of boiler pressure. Their grate area measured 70 square feet, and they had around 4000 square feet of evaporative heating surface and 1070 square feet of superheating surface.
