The AT&SF Berkshires had a 99-square-foot grate area and weighed 396,500 pounds minus tender. With 63-inch drivers, they sustained 220 p.s.i. of boiler pressure and had cylinder dimensions of 27x32 inches, developing 69,243 pounds of tractive effort. All 15 engines in the 4101 class were retired in 1954. No. 4111 is seen here at Kansas City in October 1947, in a photo that came from the Harold Vollrath collection and was picked up from a Flickr site that went offline in 2008. The same image appears in the Railfan.net ABPR Archive. For the left side view of the same locomotive, click here.
