Class K-11d 4-6-2 No. 4523 appears at Teaneck, New Jersey in 1949 in this image supplied by Wayne Koch, lensman not specified. The K-11d class was outshopped by ALCo's Schenectady Works in 1912 with dimensions similar to those of the K-11b class. With a 56½-square-foot grate area, members of the K-11 class had 3769 square feet of evaporative heating surface and 775 square feet of superheating surface. The similar K-11e class, built shortly afterward, was featured in a 1913 Bulletin by the American Locomotive Company presented elsewhere in our Rail Archive. No. 4523, originally No. 3123, came off the NYC roster in 1951.
