I had my first ride in a steam locomotive, at the age of seven, in H-10b No. 2345 at Jackson, Michigan through the courtesy of an engineer friend of my father's. I have never been able to locate a photo of No. 2345; the closest I have come is this image of No. 2346, formerly Michigan Central No. 243, provided by  Wayne Koch from his collection. The date and photographer are unidentified, but the location is likely along the lines of the former Michigan Central. At 337,000 pounds without tender the H-10b class weighed slightly less than the H-10a class, but otherwise their dimensions were identical. No. 2346 belonged to the portion of the H-10b class erected by Lima Locomotive Works in 1924, and was sold for scrap in 1952.
