My father, Dr. R. D. Leonard, captured this brace of EMD F-7 units bringing a freight across northern Indiana in June 1965. The lead unit of the lashup, mostly coupled elephant-style, appears to be No. 1802. These 1500-horsepoiwer units were built beginning in 1949; No. 1802 was a member of the NYC's DFA-2g class, reclassified to EF-15 in 1966. 166 NYC F-7A units were absorbed into Penn Central with the same numbers, but whether No. 1802 was included is unknown.
