This 1940s view of B&A class J-2c Hudson No. 618 comes from Carl Weber, but without attribution as to the original lensman or exact date. The location is almost certainly Boston's Beacon Park terminal, with class U-33 0-8-0 switcher No. 38 (or 36?) in the right background. For the specifications of the J-2 class, refer to the preceding pages for Nos. 600 and 617. With dieselization of the Boston & Albany this locomotive was transferred to suburban service out of Weehawken, New Jersey and renumbered in 1951 to NYC 5473, postponing her appointment with the torch until early in 1952.
