ALCo switcher No. 1001 shoves a cut of cars northward around the wye track leading to the main line and yard. Perhaps they are being spotted on a transfer track for the Nickel Plate or Peoria & Eastern. The view is from the rear platform of the motor train on June 10, 1959. A mail and express car and, apparently, some maintenance-of-way equipment are blocking the tracks to the north, so the motor train must have backed onto the platform track after coming down from the terminal.
