In this scene from June 1957, a northbound train approaches the Bloomington depot through the street overpass as a large group of passengers waits to board. Perhaps many of them are students returning to the Chicago area after having completed the semester at Illinois Wesleyan University or Illinois State Normal University (now ISU). Today the Amtrak clientele here is still largely students, and the station is in Normal, closer to both campuses. Shadows suggest this is the mid-afternoon Alton Limited.
