This colorized version of the photo provided by Gerom Marcom was created by Patty Allison, who discovered the black-and-white photo on this site. Adam Burns posted it on his website, american-rails.com. Because the Union Pacific M-10000 was the prototype for a popular Lionel model of the 1930s-40s, this colorized version came to our attention via Dr. Bruce C. Greenberg of Alexandria, Virginia, a writer on Lionel train sets. Dr. Greenberg includes a section about the Lionel model in his book Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, O Gauge, Vol. 2, 1929-1936, published by Brinkmann Publishing. The book includes nine pages devoted to Lionel's 1934 scale model of the M-10000, and compares the model to the real M-10000. To read Dr. Greenberg's material on the model, click here.
