The Burlington Route's train No. 11, the westbound Nebraska Zephyr, glides through Berwyn, Illinois on July 25, 1970 behind 2400-horsepower EMD E8A unit 9966. My brother, David V. Leonard, was trackside to snap this transparency of a train now truncated to just one unit and three cars — albeit the last car is one of the CB&Q's Vista-Domes. Built in 1952, the unit went to Amtrak in 1972 and was renumbered to 350.
