Santa Fe EMD F7A 303, built in 1949, leads a pair of B units at Joliet, Illinois in April 1970. The train is stopped straddling the diamonds for the Rock Island interlocking. Judging by the shadows this could be the westbound Chief, or possibly the Grand Canyon, both morning departures from Chicago. This unit was leased to Amtrak in 1971 and returned to the AT&SF in 1973. The railroad rebuilt it into CF7 2498 the following year. The unit was scrapped early in 1983. David V. Leonard took this transparency.
