This postcard of the late 1930s from Gary Thompson's collection depicts the Alton Route's Abraham Lincoln powered by EMC boxcab 50 with the shovel-nose streamlining applied. The artist has depicted the train in the original Baltimore & Ohio blue and gold livery, but with the Alton Route herald on the nose. Whether this is a faithful rendering of the colors is a question, as one might suppose the Alton would have painted the train in the line's historic red passenger colors. Perhaps that was done later on.
