Mainstay of steam operations for many years at the Illinois Railway Museum was former Frisco 2-10-0 No. 1630, erected by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1918. For her dimensions consult the previous pages for Nos. 1621 and 1628. I snapped No. 1630 pulling her vintage freight train from the steps of the Spaulding Tower, preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum, during a visit on September 23, 1990. Happily, this engine has recently returned to service after a hiatus of several years while undergoing mandatory refitting.
