The Illinois Central owned more than 600 2-8-2 or Mikado type locomotives at various times. No. 1651 was erected in 1918 by Baldwin as the IC's No. 1803. She was renumbered to 1291 in 1919, and renumbered again to 1651 in 1954. As rebuilt in the railroad's Paducah shops she weighed 282,700 pounds and pulled with 54,158 pounds of tractive effort. She had 27x30-inch cylingers, 63½-inch drivers, and 185 pounds of boiler pressure. This photo by Bruce Meyer was taken at Bloomington, Illinois in the summer of 1954. No. 1651 was sent to the scrapyard in 1960.
