Grand Trunk Western streamlined 4-8-4 No. 6409 rounds a curve near Lansing, Michigan with one of the railroad's main line passenger limiteds, as a freight powered by Mikado No. 3524 rolls by on the other track. (Click here to see the trains approaching one another.) Judging from shadows the train may be the westbound Inter-City Limited, which departed Lansing around 4:30 p.m. Though the identity of the photographer is uncertain, this image came from the collection of Frank Anthony and was contributed by Jerry A. Tyler. It dates from the late 1940s through the late 1950s.
