My brother snapped this transparency of GTW streamlined 4-8-4 No. 6408 on the same day as the previous photo, catching the locomotive at the Milwaukee Junction coaling tower. This color view reveals how the appearance of these classic engines deteriorated during their final months of operation, as they awaited replacement by diesel power. None of the GTW's streamlined Northerns have survived, but Canadian National No. 6400 is displayed at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa as an example of the CNR system's U-4 class.
