This view of Erie Railroad class K-5 Pacific No. 2921 comes to our Random Steam Collection from the print collection of Wayne Koch. According to George Elwood's Fallen Flags site, where the same image appears from another collection, it was taken in Chicago on June 6, 1934 by Robert Graham. The K-5 class came from ALCo's Richmond works and Baldwin in 1919. They had 79-inch drivers, 200 p.s.i. of boiler pressure, and 27x28-inch cylinders. They developed 43,925 pounds of tractive force and weighed 467,410 pounds including tender. Their grate area totaled 71 square feet, and they had 3801 square feet of evaporative heating surface and 887 square feet of superheating surface. Some remained in service until 1952; other photos reveal that by the end of her career No. 2921 had received a full set of disc drivers.
