The first 4-8-2s on the Canadian National were the class U-1-a Mountains delivered by Canadian Locomotive Company in 1923. They had 26x30-inch cylinders, a boiler pressure of 210 pounds per square inch, and 73-inch drivers. They weighed 354,300 pounds and developed 49,600 pounds of tractive effort. In common with most modern CNR steam power they had the "Elephant ear" smoke deflectors. This photo of No. 6007 was taken by Elwin K. Heath, but the location and date are unknown.
