My brother David took this transparency of Canadian National 4-6-2 No. 5296 at Toronto's Spadina Street Terminal during a photo expedition to Canada late in the steam era. Even to the end, Canadian steam kept up a well-maintained appearance compared to some lines in the United States that did little to hide the fact that steam power was being phased out. No. 5296 was a 1920 product of Montreal Locomotive Works, and had the same dimensions as No. 5295 on the previous page.
