I caught Hudson No. 5367 at Gaylord, Michigan, in August 1952, heading up the Sunday-only Timberliner bound from Mackinaw City to Detroit. These engines of class J1d sustained a steam pressure of 225 pounds per square inch and had 25x28-inch cylinders. Like all New York Central Hudsons except the 20 of class J2 operated by lessee Boston & Albany, they featured 79-inch drivers. With their booster operating the J1s produced 53,250 pounds of tractive force, and they weighed about 362,000 pounds. Retired in 1953, No. 5367 (originally Michigan Central 8222) was also assigned to the NYC's Ontario subsidiary, the Canada Southern. Viewer Tom Rock has supplied a photo of her at the head of a mail and express train in Windsor, Ontario.
