This scene from August 12, 2006 shows the Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern diamond, location of the former GM&O depot. Amtrak still uses the now single-tracked line, but the station stop has been relocated to Normal to accommodate university students. Union Pacific tore down the old brick structure after assuming ownership of this trackage. The street viaduct has become a pedestrian-bicycle bridge, part of a path that has replaced the Peoria & Eastern tracks that formerly paralleled the Nickel Plate, now Norfolk Southern. The bike path winds down through the old depot site.
